Canva Tips & Tricks With Josh Allen

Content creation and social media has become such an integral part of education. There are numerous tools that teachers and students use, one being Canva. Striv Education hosted a live training recently, providing Canva tips and tricks to enhance your classroom.

We have brought in Josh Allen, who is the tech integration specialist at Lewis Central, to do a live training on how to use Canva effectively in your classroom.

In this blog post, we’ll share some of the key takeaways from the webinar and highlight the benefits of using Canva in the classroom.

Josh’s Canva Tips & Tricks to Enhance Your Classroom

  • Canva for Schools

Some of the tips that Josh talks about throughout this webinar are only accessible with the paid version of Canva. Luckily for schools, Canva offers free plans for teachers and school districts. Click here to learn more about these different plans.

  • Search

One of the reasons why Josh loves Canva so much is because of the vast images and graphics that are available.

Any idea that you have for a poster or social media post, you can utilize the search on Canva to find exactly what you are looking for to make your idea come to life!

  • Copy and Resize

Canva is very user-friendly and makes it easy for first-time users to navigate, unlike other software like Photoshop.

Copying images onto your graphic and resizing images to fit perfectly is incredibly easy to do. This also makes it more effective when you are reusing different posts and changing things around.

  • Design Template

Sometimes the hardest thing about designing a new social media post or graphic is knowing where to start. Canva provides thousands of unique designs that will work for whatever you are creating!

All you have to do is copy the design and then input your own photos and text to fit what information you are sharing.

  • Organize Content

If you are a school that makes a lot of graphics throughout the year, Canva makes it incredibly easy to organize them.

Having organized folders is always a plus, especially when you are making graphics for multiple sports and different clubs at your school.

  • Videos

Even though Canva is mainly known for its photo and graphic editing, you can also utilize it to create interesting videos. Although it is not as effective as IMovie or Premiere Pro, it can be effective when you need to create a quick and simple video.

In the webinar, Josh shows a simple yet engaging video that he created for a show choir event at Lewis Central.

  • Background Removal

Removing the background from an image can be a time-consuming and challenging task, especially for those who don’t have access to sophisticated image editing software.

Fortunately, Canva has a built-in feature that allows users to remove backgrounds from their images quickly and easily.

With just a few clicks, users can isolate objects and remove their backgrounds, making it simple to create stunning graphics and designs for social media.
