The first session of the United Media Group summer program launched this week, bringing together a motivated group of high school students ready to learn what it takes to create, communicate, and lead through media.
This program is a collaboration between Striv Education, Millard United Sports, and longtime Nebraska sports media professional Mike Sautter. It’s designed to give students real-world experience in sports broadcasting, video production, and content creation, and just as important, the confidence to grow.

“This isn’t just about teaching kids how to run a camera or speak into a mic,” said Mike Sautter.
“It’s about helping them build confidence in media, yes, but also in life. This program gives students a safe space to try something new, to fail, and to get back up with a community that supports them.”
Who It’s For:
High school students passionate about media, storytelling, and sports
What They Learn:
Broadcasting, video production, and social content creation
Personal branding and digital portfolio building
Communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity
Why It Matters:
Students need more than classroom knowledge. They need spaces to create, speak, and grow. United Media Group gives them that through mentorship, media training, and hands-on experience.
In Week 1, students:
Learned how to set up cameras, mics, and mixers
Practiced recording their first on-camera intro
Discussed the power of showing up and telling their story
“I was nervous to be on camera, but once I started talking it just felt right.” — UMG Student
With Millard United Sports backing the initiative, this program represents a new model that combines community and content to empower the next generation.
We’ll be sharing student stories, behind-the-scenes moments, and progress as the summer continues. Stay tuned.
