Three Things That YOU Need To Start A Digital Media Program At YOUR School

Throughout our many conversations with Striv teachers, we know how to help schools start and grow their digital media education programs.

Building a thriving digital media education program at any school takes a lot of time and resources. But there are only three things that you need to do to start one:

  • Build Support

  • Teacher Training

  • Program Direction

If you are a school that already has a Striv team but is looking to get into adding a digital media curriculum or even just a couple of classes, this blog will tell you everything you need to know to get started!

The Three Things YOU Need to Start Digital Media Education

1. Build Support

It is vitally important that you have support from all levels when starting your digital media education program. This obviously starts with talking to the administration at your school and explaining how it will benefit students.

Once you have full support from administration it is equally important that you have your community buy into the program that you are implementing.

Make them understand how the skills that your students will learn in these classes will help them secure jobs in a very relevant and growing career field.

2. Teacher Training

The toughest thing to decide when implementing a new topic like digital media education into a curriculum is, “Where do I start?”

That is where Striv comes in. We have developed a curriculum to help you get started but also allow you to have the flexibility to focus on what you want to teach the most.

We pride ourselves in giving teachers the knowledge and resources they need to start and grow their digital media education programs.

3. Program Direction

So you have gotten the support needed from your administration and community as well as decided where you want to start. Now, it is time to purchase the equipment needed for your class.

If you want to focus on graphics, then buying computers and graphic design software should be at the top of your list. If you want to focus on video production, acquiring cameras, memory cards and tripods will be a top priority.

All of these different things are going to be expensive, but there are countless amounts of grants to help buy the equipment that you need.
